Twig Vase is a project about visiting something familiar, but filling it with a different content. My starting point was a product with a low value. This product has before almost exlusively been about the function and not the design: the christmas tree stand. Hundreds of thousands of these are produced and consumed each year to be used only during christmas. I wanted when creating my version – to keep the function – but extend it. Shifting it’s content and meaning in our homes. By changing the shape, use and meaning; the result was a vase that can be used in a number of ways, all year around. A vase for unconventional plants such as twigs and branches, as well as the christmas tree.
